Below is a simulated combat scenario for the Perilous Adventures Warbands Guide (PAWG) using the updated rules: 340 attribute points (max 80), 90 skill points (max 100), HP = (CON + STR) x 2, enhanced healing, and the percentile (d100) system with Margin of Success. This pits our warband—Torren, Lira, Eryn, Kael, and Veyra—against five Rookie Town Guards. The simulation is designed to be clear for new players, showing how turns, rolls, and mechanics work, while providing enough detail—stats, dice rolls, and outcomes—for experienced gamers. It uses the combat rules from the "Combat Rules" page and spells from the "Spells Listing" page, with dice rolls generated for this scenario. The combat unfolds in rounds, with commentary to explain key moments, but keeps it concise—no excessive narrative fluff.

  • Eryn (Embermarked Scholar): INT 90, WIS 70, HP 200, Spellcasting 90, Mana 170, cloth (2 DR), staff (8 damage), Flameheart (+10 Mana, free Fire Bolt).
  • Kael (Human Mystic): WIS 80, INT 60, HP 180, Spellcasting 100, Mana 150, leather (5 DR), staff (8 damage), Soul Warden (+20 Spellcasting for healing).

  • Result: One guard drops, pierced by an arrow.

Lira

  • Move: Sneaks 15 ft (Stealth 100 + 20 = 120, capped 100 vs. Perception 40, rolls 20)—unseen.

Commentary

  • Round 1: Veyra and Lira’s high initiative and precision (Margins 60, 158) dropped two guards instantly—Rookies’ low Perception (40) couldn’t spot Lira. Eryn’s Fire Bolt softened Guard 3, while Torren’s brute force (Margin 50) felled another. Kael’s Shielding Aura prepped for defense, but Guards’ weak rolls (Margins 20, 10) barely scratched Torren’s DR and Reaction.
  • Round 2: Veyra’s bow (Margin 70) and Lira’s stealth kill (Margin 178) finished the fight—Rookies’ HP 80 crumpled fast against high Margins and doubled damage.
  • Mechanics: Margin of Success scaled damage (e.g., 90, 158), Reactions mitigated hits (Torren’s 36 to 0), and spells (Fire Bolt, Shielding Aura) added utility—gritty PAWG combat shone through.
