World in Conflict
Team Fortress 2 has been so much fun that I have not made much time to play World in Conflict. In a nutshell – it’s 1989, and the Cold War has not ended. Instead, it goes hot and the USSR invades Western Europe. With NATO forces focused on Europe the USSR invades the USA. Wikipedia has the storyline and gameplay well covered.
A focus on tactics instead of resource gathering really makes the game shine in multiplayer. Toss in the focused role of each player into infantry, armor, air, and support and you have multiplayer RTS bliss. Add in the tactical aid feature and the ability to call everything from intelligence sweeps to carpet bombing to daisy cutters to a tactical nuke, and it is truly nirvana.
