It’s one of the simplest things to require on a computer – text editing. For the command line junkie, there is the vi versus emacs crusade. Beyond that is the battle over the best GUI text editor for Mac OS.

Despite being mentioned on arswiki.info I had not ever tested Smultron. I was asked today about a good, free text editor and I used the requester as a tester of the application. Initial reports is that it’s lightweight, decent eyecandy, and solid. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think!
